How I imported the Crew Cab
Under Construction!!

Bringing the Crew Cab in from Canada wasn't the big deal others had made it out to be. This is due to the easing of import restrictions by the US Customs Service.

CASE # 987654321 - IMPORT OF 1985 VW VANAGON FROM CANADA TO USA

Dear Sir or Madam:
I am purchasing a 1985 VW Vanagon from a private individual who lives in Canada. In order to clear US Customs, I need a "Letter of Conformance" that indicates that the vehicle meets all of the EPA standards for that model year, and complies with all applicable U.S Federal motor vehicle safety standards (FMVSS). As advised by the customer service rep I spoke with, I am providing you with some info to help speed this process:

VIN#: WV2VB0240FH022690
Engine Family Codes from sticker near engine:

FVW 1.9T5CVS5 EVAP FAM VW_VANAGON
EXH EMISSION M?????? S?????? FI TWC EGS DISPL 117 CID
(The question marks refer to numbers that I could not legibly read off the sticker)
Also attached is a copy of the Canadian registration. Please send the letter of conformance to:

If you need further information, please feel free to contact me at (301) 555-8989. Thank you for your help with this matter. I look forward to enjoying my new VW soon.
Sincerely,
Tom Carrington
